Have you ever had a matcha latte? If not, more than likely you have heard of it and may be wondering what it is! Let’s chat about this powerhouse and leave you with a delicious, easy to make matcha latte recipe!
What is matcha?
Matcha is powdered green tea leaves. Essentially the same as green tea, matcha is higher in nutrients because the whole leaf is ingested instead of just steeped. It has a rich, earthy flavor.
How to use it?
Matcha is very easy to prepare. Prepare a drink by adding to hot water and whisking together. You can also make a Matcha Latte (my favorite), recipe below. Add it to homemade popsicles, smoothies, energy bites or desserts.
Why should you drink matcha?
- High in antioxidants which help reduce cell damage and prevent chronic disease.
- Less caffeine then coffee. If you are someone who enjoys multiple cups of coffee a day, try replacing one of your cups with matcha.
- Good for your heart. Studies show the benefits of drinking green tea for reduced risks of heart disease and strokes.
What kind of matcha should you buy?
Organic and from a high quality source. I personally use and LOVE Further Foods SUPERFOOD MATCHA. It is single sourced from Japan, organic and also enhanced with added adaptogens and superfoods: wheatgrass, ashwagandha, mushrooms and ginger. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that helps your body adapt to stress, wheatgrass is super high in antioxidants and ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and helps with digestive health.
