My Go-To Essential Oils for Gut & Nervous System Support
Each oil I recommend has a purpose—whether it’s to calm, ground, energize, or soothe. Here are a few favorites I often incorporate into my clients’ healing journeys:
- Peppermint
- Cooling and invigorating, peppermint helps ease digestive discomfort, bloating, and sluggish digestion. It’s also great for clearing mental fog.
- Lavender
- A go-to for calming the nervous system. Lavender promotes relaxation, improves sleep, and supports parasympathetic nervous system activation—crucial for gut healing.
- Ginger
- Known for its warming, digestive-supportive properties. Ginger helps reduce nausea, supports motility, and gently stimulates digestion.
- Fennel
- Fennel is a gentle powerhouse for digestion—soothing bloating, gas, and cramping while supporting smooth gut motility and overall digestive ease.
- Citrus (Lemon, Orange, Grapefruit)
- Uplifting and refreshing, citrus oils help support liver detoxification and lymph flow, reduce stress, and encourage a light, vibrant energy that supports gut-brain balance.
- Clove & Cinnamon
- These warming, antimicrobial oils are supportive in rebalancing gut flora and gently stimulating digestion. They’re potent, so a little goes a long way—especially when used with intention.
- Frankincense
- A deeply grounding oil that supports both emotional balance and cellular healing. It’s also known to reduce inflammation and promote a sense of inner calm.
Favorite Blends
Blends are an easy way to incorporate several oils at once. Below are some of my favorites.
- Sleepy: perfect for diffusing at bedtime
- Head Soothing: perfect for alleviating pain/tension/discomfort from headaches or neck tension. Available in a convenient roller or straight oil.
- Tranquility: diffuse for feelings of contentment and reassurance.
- Defender: great for cold/flu season as it contains oils that support immune health. Bonus tip: add Defender and Peppermint to your diffuser. It’s heavenly.
- Focus: great when you need a pick me up boost to focus on your day. Bonus tip: use with Orange for a delightful aroma.

How to Use Essential Oils at Home
Essential Oils are powerful plant allies. Here are a few tips to help you use them safely and effectively:
- Diffuse with intention: A few drops in a diffuser can shift your whole environment. Start small, and notice how your body responds.
- Inhale deeply: Place a drop in your palms, rub together, cup over your nose, and take a few slow breaths. This is especially helpful for calming the nervous system.
- Topical use (with guidance): Some oils can be diluted with a carrier oil and applied to the abdomen or the bottoms of the feet.
- Less is more: More oil doesn’t always mean more healing. A little goes a long way—especially when paired with mindful breathing and rest.
